Effect of Moisture, Particle Size and Thermal Processing of Feeds on Broiler Production

This study aimed at assessing the effect of pelleted and expanded maize-based feeds prepared with different moisture levels (ML, 0.8 1.6%) particle size (PS, 650 850µ) ingredients on metabolizable energy, ileal digestibility amino acids broiler performance. A total 720 one-day-old male chicks Cobb strain were used. The experiment was performed over a period 40d (days) birds received water feed ad libitum. From 10 to 13d higher AMEn values obtained for fed 1.6% ML 850µ PS. Higher encountered when adding 0.8% in pellet or 1.6%ML/650µ Expanded diets (independent PS, presented acid digestibility. For ML, better result PS 650µ diets. weight gain observed broilers 21 40d. Feed conversion improved by only 21d. Regarding carcass characteristics, combined led accumulation abdominal fat. had breast yields. We concluded that increase use nutrients, EMAn performance, it is recommended be addition mixer 850µ.
